Freestailo came into existence when a young Kazakh man, presumably from a rural village, auditioned for the singing contest Superstar KZ. Armed with a dombro (a two-stringed lute), he began singing an original song only known as “Freestailo”. The word “freestyler” in Russian refers to a DJ or a freestyle rapper. When translated to Kazakh, however, the word “freestailo” is born.
Lyrics – English translation
Fu Fu Fu Fu f-f-freestailo!!! Fu Fu Fu Fu f-f-freestailo!!!!
Laka Maka Dam
Du tun tari duri dam
du tun tuti ruti dam
du tun tiri prir dam
du tun Whoooooo!
Strawberries emerge even on the steppes
Starwberries grow even on the steppes
Who could know your merits?
Do you love me?
Will you quit everything to marry me?
